Course Curriculum

The Master of Information Technology (Software Engineering) at CDU is a rigorous postgraduate program designed to equip students with the advanced technical and professional skills required for a career in software development, IT management, and related fields. The program requires students to complete 160 credit points, including 140 credit points of core units and 20 credit points of specialist electives, providing a comprehensive blend of theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Core units cover essential topics such as software fundamentals, databases, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, cyber security, and IT service management. Students also gain expertise in operating systems, networks, software development methodologies, process and tools for software engineering, and risk and reliability management, ensuring they are well-prepared to tackle the complexities of modern software systems. The 20-credit-point unit, Software Engineering Practice, provides hands-on experience, allowing students to apply learned concepts to real-world projects and develop practical problem-solving skills.In addition to the core units, students select one specialist elective, either a Professional Experience placement or an IT Thesis. The Professional Experience option allows students to gain industry exposure and practical insights by working on live projects, enhancing employability and professional networks. The IT Thesis provides an opportunity to conduct in-depth research under academic supervision, developing critical thinking, analytical skills, and expertise in a chosen area of software engineering.Graduates of this program emerge as highly skilled professionals capable of designing, implementing, and managing software solutions across diverse environments.
