The Master of Clinical Audiology is a two-year postgraduate degree designed to prepare students to become qualified allied health professionals in hearing and balance care. The program focuses on developing advanced knowledge and practical skills to assess, manage, and rehabilitate individuals with hearing and balance disorders across all ages. It combines theoretical learning, clinical placements, and intensive hands-on training to ensure graduates are work-ready and confident in delivering audiological care in diverse health settings. The course totals 160 credit points and includes sixteen core units covering areas such as hearing assessment, clinical audiology, paediatric audiology, aural rehabilitation, electrophysiological and vestibular assessment, and health promotion. Students also complete units in research skills and Indigenous knowledges and wellbeing, ensuring they gain a culturally responsive and evidence-based understanding of hearing health. Learning takes place through both online and face-to-face modes, with four compulsory five-day teaching intensives held at the Casuarina Campus. These intensives combine theoretical instruction with practical, work-integrated learning experiences, allowing students to apply their knowledge in simulated and real clinical environments. Clinical placements are a key feature of the course and may require travel to regional, rural, or interstate locations to meet the required clinical hours. The program encourages a flexible approach to study and welcomes students from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, including international and First Nations students. Graduates of this course will be equipped to pursue careers as clinical audiologists in hospitals, community health centers, educational settings, and private practices. They will also be qualified to contribute to hearing research, hearing conservation programs, and public health initiatives aimed at improving ear and hearing health outcomes across Australia. The course follows the university’s higher education rules and includes structured updates to ensure content remains current and aligned with professional standards.
