The Master of Architecture program provides a comprehensive and innovative approach to advanced architectural education, focusing on the integration of design thinking, technology, research, and professional practice. It is structured around a series of design studios that progressively increase in complexity, helping students build a strong foundation of creative, technical, and analytical skills. Throughout the course, students engage with socially, environmentally, and technically challenging design problems that reflect real-world contexts. These design studios are supported by units in professional practice, technology, environmental sustainability, and research, ensuring that students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience essential for modern architectural practice. The program culminates in a major research by design project, where students use the design process as a method of inquiry to explore new ideas through experimentation and iteration, demonstrating mastery of architectural design as both a creative and investigative discipline. To successfully complete the program, students must achieve 160 credit points. The core component comprises ten compulsory units that total 140 credit points, which include subjects such as Architecture 1 – Global, Architecture 2 – Social, Architecture 3 – Praxis, and Architecture 4 – Major Project, along with professional practice and technology-focused units. These core units collectively develop students’ ability to integrate global perspectives, social awareness, sustainability, and innovation into their architectural practice.Additionally, students are required to complete one specialist elective unit worth 20 credit points, choosing either Architecture Practice Placement or Architecture Research Project. These options provide an opportunity to gain practical professional experience or pursue advanced academic research within the architectural field. Upon completion, graduates emerge as highly skilled professionals capable of addressing contemporary architectural challenges, promoting sustainable and adaptive design, and contributing meaningfully to the evolving landscape of architecture at both local and global levels.
