The Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education is designed to equip educators with the knowledge and skills required to deliver effective, innovative, and evidence-based teaching at the higher education level. The course comprises four units, each worth 10 credit points, totalling 40 credit points (cp). Delivered in a micro-credentialed, intensive format, each unit begins with a pre-semester intensive session that introduces key theories and frameworks for practice. This is followed by the completion of a co-designed, practice-based assessment, allowing participants to apply their learning to their own teaching contexts by the end of the semester.The program structure includes three compulsory core units and one specialist elective. The core units—Effective Tertiary Teaching, Technologies for Teaching and Learning, and Designing Curriculum and Assessment—focus on building a strong foundation in educational design, digital pedagogy, and assessment strategies. Through these units, participants learn to design engaging and inclusive learning environments, implement technology-enhanced teaching approaches, and develop curricula aligned with institutional and learner needs.In addition to the core studies, students choose one specialist elective worth 10 credit points from a selection of advanced topics such as Digital Cultures, Curricula and Assessment; Education, Apps and Mobile Devices; Digital Literacies and Data Literacy; Assessment and Quality Assurance in Learning and Teaching; Challenging Educational Paradigms; Scholarship of Tertiary Teaching; or University Teacher as HDR Supervisor. These electives enable participants to tailor their learning experience to their specific teaching interests and professional goals.By the end of the course, graduates will have developed a critical understanding of tertiary education practices, enhanced their ability to integrate technology in teaching, and gained practical experience in curriculum design and assessment. This qualification supports educators in advancing their professional practice and contributing to quality teaching and learning in higher education contexts.
