To successfully complete the Bachelor of Psychological Science, a candidate must complete units totalling 240 credit points (cp), with all units valued at 10 credit points unless otherwise stated. The program is structured to provide students with a strong foundation in core areas of psychology, supported by specialist elective options that allow for professional and personal interest-based learning.The course consists of 18 compulsory core units worth 180 credit points. These core units provide essential theoretical and practical knowledge in psychology, health, and research. They include foundational subjects such as Introduction to Psychology A and B, Introduction to Research Skills, and Intercultural Sensitivity and Psychological Communication. Students also study Developmental Psychology Across the Lifespan, Social Psychology, Neuroscience and the Biological Bases of Behaviour, Cognition, Language and Perception, and Learning and Memory. Advanced topics such as Motivation and Emotion, Abnormal Psychology, and Theories of Individual Differences and Personality further deepen understanding of human behaviour. Research and analysis are key components of the program, developed through units like Research Design and Analysis and Advanced Research Design and Analysis.In addition to the core units, students must complete 60 credit points from a range of specialist elective units. These electives allow for focused study in areas such as counselling, Indigenous health, mental health and wellbeing, alcohol and drug studies, forensic psychology, and sport psychology. This flexibility enables students to tailor their degree to suit specific career goals or interests.To meet course requirements, students must complete a maximum of 100 credit points from 100-level units and at least 60 credit points from 300-level units or higher. The course follows the Higher Education Course Rules outlined in the Units and Courses Policy. Overall, the program equips graduates with the academic and applied knowledge needed to pursue professional pathways in psychology, counselling, research, and community health.
