To complete the Bachelor of Architectural Design, a candidate must successfully complete units totaling 240 credit points (cp), with each unit valued at 10 credit points unless otherwise indicated. The program requires the completion of fourteen compulsory core units worth 200 credit points and four specialist elective units totaling 40 credit points. Students must also complete at least 60 credit points at the 300 level or above and no more than 100 credit points at the 100 level. The core units are designed to build progressively from fundamental to advanced architectural skills and knowledge. Key design-focused units include Architectural Design 1 – Materiality, Architectural Design 2 – Ecology, Architectural Design 3 – Theory, Architectural Design 4 – Urban, Architectural Design 5 – Public, and Architectural Design 6 – Integration, each worth 20 credit points. Supporting subjects such as Building Technology 1, 2, and 3, Environmental Building Design, Architectural Documentation, and Architecture: History, Theory and Practice (1, 2, and 3) strengthen students’ technical, theoretical, and contextual understanding of architecture. In addition to the core, students select four specialist electives from a diverse range of complementary disciplines that encourage interdisciplinary learning. Options include Environmental Design: Desert Project, Project Management, Entrepreneurship Fundamentals, Art, Dance, Songs and Stories of Place, Environmental Issues, and Intercultural Practice, among others. These electives allow students to explore connections between architecture, environment, art, culture, and management. The program’s structure promotes a balance of creative, technical, and theoretical learning, preparing graduates with the essential design, construction, and analytical skills required for architectural practice or further professional study. The total requirement for graduation is 240 credit points.
