The Master of Public Health requires the completion of 16 units, totaling 96 credits. The course is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of public health, combining core units with advanced electives to ensure both foundational knowledge and specialised expertise. Students begin with 11 core units, which cover essential areas such as Understanding Public Health, Systems Thinking in Public Health, Epidemiology and Statistics, Global Public Health, and Foundations of Emergency and Disaster Management. Other core topics include Health and Wellbeing in the Cross-Cultural Community, Communicable Diseases, Public Health Practice in the Cross-Cultural Community, Social Innovation and Health through Human-Centred Design Thinking, Environmental Health, and Non-communicable Diseases. Some core units involve practical placements, providing hands-on experience in real-world public health settings.In addition to the core, students select two level-8 electives and three level-9 electives, allowing them to tailor their studies according to specific interests and career goals. This structure provides the opportunity to gain advanced knowledge in areas such as policy development, health promotion, epidemiology, or community health innovation. By integrating theoretical learning with practical applications, the program equips graduates with the skills required to address complex public health challenges and lead initiatives that improve population health outcomes.Graduates of the Master of Public Health will be prepared for leadership and specialist roles in a variety of public health contexts, including government health departments, non-government organisations, research institutions, and community health programs.
