The Master of Construction Management at CQUniversity requires students to complete 14 or 15 units, totaling 96 credits, depending on their chosen stream. The program includes 12 core units that provide comprehensive knowledge of construction management principles, project management, and advanced technical skills relevant to the building industry. Core units include Project Management Concepts (PPMP20007), Initiating and Planning Projects (PPMP20008), Leading Lean Projects (PPMP20009), and Executing and Closing Projects (PPMP20010), which cover the full project lifecycle. Research Proposal (PPMP20015) equips students with skills in research planning and methodology, while Construction Risk Management (BLCN28002) and Construction Contract Administration (BLCN28003) focus on mitigating risks and managing legal aspects of construction projects. Additional core units such as Construction Technology (BLCN29001), Construction Land Planning and Building Legislation (BLCN29002), Construction Measurement (BLCN29003), Construction Procurement and Cost Planning (BLCN29004), and Building Information Modelling (BIM) (BLCN29005) develop practical skills essential for planning, cost management, and technological proficiency in modern construction practices. After completing the core units, students choose a stream: the Practicum, Research, or Internship stream. The Practicum Stream includes Effective Business Communications (BUSN20017), Sustainability in Projects (PPMP20013), and Project Management Practicum (PPMP20018). The Research Stream involves two units: Research Project 1 (PPMP20019) and Research Project 2 (PPMP20016), enabling students to engage in in-depth, industry-relevant research. The Internship Stream comprises Project Management Internship (PPMP20017), Portfolio and Program Management (PPMP20012), and Complex Project Management (PPMP20014), providing hands-on, practical experience in managing complex construction projects. This structure ensures graduates acquire a combination of technical, managerial, and professional skills, including expertise in BIM, risk management, cost planning, sustainability, and project execution. The program prepares students for senior roles in construction management, project leadership, and consultancy, while also offering pathways for research and practical industry engagement to advance their careers in the construction and built environment sectors.
