Course Curriculum

The Graduate Diploma in Project Management at CQUniversity consists of eight units, totaling 48 credits, including seven core units and one elective. The core units provide a comprehensive foundation in project management principles, covering the full project lifecycle and essential management skills. Project Management Concepts (PPMP20007) introduces the fundamental principles and frameworks of project management, while Initiating and Planning Projects (PPMP20008) focuses on defining project objectives, planning strategies, and resource allocation. Leading Lean Projects (PPMP20009) teaches techniques for efficient project execution, and Executing and Closing Projects (PPMP20010) covers implementation, monitoring, and successful project completion.Contract and Procurement Management (PPMP20011) provides knowledge of procurement processes, contract administration, and supplier management, and Portfolio and Program Management (PPMP20012) explores the management of multiple projects and strategic alignment with organisational goalsStudents then choose one elective, either Research Proposal (PPMP20015) or Effective Business Communications (BUSN20017). Research Proposal is recommended for those intending to continue into the Master of Project Management, as it is a core unit in the master’s program. Effective Business Communications develops professional communication skills applicable to project management contexts, including stakeholder engagement, reporting, and team collaboration.Together, these units equip students with both technical and professional skills needed to manage projects effectively across diverse industries. Graduates gain expertise in planning, executing, and delivering projects while developing interpersonal skills such as leadership, communication, negotiation, and team management. The program prepares students for careers in project management and provides a pathway to further study in the Master of Project Management, ensuring a combination of practical knowledge, strategic insight, and professional competence.
