The Bachelor of Science (Psychology) is structured around 24 units (144 credits), which include 12 core units and 12 elective units. Students who already hold a completed bachelor’s degree may be eligible to receive credit for the elective component, allowing them to concentrate on the psychology core. This design ensures a balanced learning journey that combines theoretical foundations, research training, and applied areas of psychology. The 12 core units introduce students to the discipline and progressively build expertise. The course begins with Fundamentals of Psychology 1: Understanding Human Behaviour and Research Methods 1, which establish a foundation in psychological principles and research skills. Units such as Physiological Psychology and Psychology Across the Lifespan explore the biological influences on behaviour and the stages of human development. Applied areas like Psychotherapies and Counselling and Foundations of Psychopathology provide insights into mental health, therapeutic approaches, and psychological disorders, while Critical Social Psychology examines how social and cultural factors shape behaviour.Research training is strengthened through Research Methods 2 and Research Methods 3, equipping students with advanced knowledge in data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Other units such as Cognitive Psychology focus on processes like learning, memory, and problem-solving, while Individual Differences and Assessment introduces psychological testing and personality assessment. Cross-Cultural Psychology adds a global perspective, highlighting how cultural contexts influence psychological processes. This combination of core theory, research practice, and applied knowledge prepares graduates for multiple career pathways. They can progress into accredited postgraduate study for registration as a psychologist or apply their skills in fields such as education, health, community services, research, or business. The program ensures graduates leave with a strong understanding of psychology and the ability to apply their knowledge in diverse professional environments.
