Course Curriculum

The Bachelor of Psychological Science at CQUniversity requires the completion of 24 units, equating to 144 credits. The course structure consists of 16 core units and either one eight-unit minor or two four-unit minors, allowing students to tailor their studies to align with their interests and career goals. The core units provide a comprehensive foundation in psychology, covering essential areas such as understanding human behaviour, psychological literacy, research methods, physiological psychology, cognitive psychology, and cross-cultural psychology. Students also explore specialized topics including psychotherapies and counselling, applied health and sports psychology, critical social psychology, foundations of psychopathology, and individual differences and assessment.Practical application of knowledge is a key component of the program, with the Psychology Capstone unit offering an opportunity for students to engage in a placement or project. This capstone experience enables students to integrate theoretical learning with real-world practice, developing critical skills such as problem-solving, ethical decision-making, and professional communication. Research methods are emphasised throughout the course, with three dedicated units designed to build students’ capabilities in experimental design, data analysis, and evaluation of psychological researchThe program also incorporates personal and professional development, preparing students for work in diverse settings including mental health services, human resources, education, research, and community services.
