The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) requires the completion of 26 core units, totaling 192 credits. The course is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in health sciences, physiotherapy theory, and clinical practice, preparing students for professional registration and practice as physiotherapists.Early units introduce students to allied health practice, research methods, and human anatomy and physiology through subjects such as Introduction to Allied Health Practice, Research Methods for Health Professionals, Medical Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2, and Life Course Development for Health Professionals. These units establish a strong scientific and theoretical base, complemented by Foundations of Physiotherapy Practice 1 and 2, which focus on developing clinical reasoning and practical skills. Fundamentals of Psychology and Evidence-Based Practice for Health Professionals further equip students with essential knowledge to support patient care.The program advances into specialised areas of physiotherapy, including Functional Anatomy and Biomechanics, Cardiorespiratory Physiology, Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy 1–3, Neurological Physiotherapy 1 and 2, and Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy. Units such as Physiotherapy Management of the Complex Patient and Medical Pathophysiology develop expertise in assessing and treating diverse and complex conditions. Rural and Remote Practice for Health Professionals highlights the application of physiotherapy in diverse healthcare settings.Professional practice is integrated throughout the degree, with five units of Professional Physiotherapy Practice providing clinical placements in real-world healthcare environments. These experiences allow students to apply theoretical knowledge, refine practical skills, and develop professional communication and patient management abilities. The Research Project unit enables students to engage in scholarly inquiry, applying research principles to clinical contexts.By completing this program, graduates are equipped with the knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies required to work across hospitals, clinics, community health services, rehabilitation centres, and private practice, ensuring they are ready for a successful career as registered physiotherapists.
