The Bachelor of Oral Health at CQUniversity requires the completion of 20 units, totalling 144 credits, all structured within the core program. The course begins with foundational units such as Research Methods for Health Professionals (ALLH11009), Human Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2 (BMSC11010 and BMSC11011), and Microbiology for Health Care (MBIO12013), which provide essential scientific knowledge to support your clinical practice. You will then move into discipline-specific learning through subjects like Introduction to Oral Health Therapy (ORAL11001), Oral Anatomy 1 and 2 (ORAL11004 and ORAL11005), and Introduction to Oral Disease (ORAL11003), establishing a strong understanding of oral structures and conditions. Practical skill development is a central feature of this degree, with multiple opportunities for hands-on training in units such as Introduction to Oral Health Practice (ORAL11006), Oral Health Pre Clinical Practice 1 (ORAL12002), and Oral Health Clinical Practice 1 and 2 (ORAL12003 and ORAL12006). Building on these, you will complete Advanced Oral Health Practice (ORAL12004) and Paediatric Dentistry for the Oral Health Therapist (ORAL12005), where you will gain specialized skills in treating children as well as advanced competencies in therapy. Clinical placements are a major component, giving you direct patient care experience through Oral Health Clinical Placement 1 (ORAL13001) and Oral Health Clinical Placement 2 (ORAL13002), ensuring you graduate work-ready. Additional focus is given to Oral Disease Prevention and Management (ORAL12001), Health Promotion Strategies (HLTH12028), and Rural and Remote Practice for Health Professionals (ALLH13011), equipping you to work across diverse communities and to actively promote oral health at both individual and community levels.
