Course Curriculum

The Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science requires the completion of 24 units, totalling 144 credits, which includes 18 core units and one six-unit minor. The core structure provides you with a solid foundation in health, anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, psychology, and professional practice, while also ensuring you develop practical, hands-on skills through residential schools, internships, and placements.In your first year, you will complete foundational units such as Physical Activity, Fitness and Health (ESSC11001), Skill Acquisition and Movement (ESSC11003), Study and Research Skills for Health Science (ESSC11004), Human Anatomy and Physiology 1 (BMSC11010), and Measurement and Evaluation in Health Science (ESSC11002). These units provide the basic knowledge and research skills needed for your degree. You will then advance to subjects like Functional Anatomy (ESSC12010), Health and Sports Nutrition (ESSC11005), and Human Anatomy and Physiology 2 (BMSC11011), ensuring you understand the human body and its functions in relation to exercise and sport.As you progress, you will explore specialised areas including Exercise and Sport Physiology (ESSC12001), Exercise and Sport Biomechanics (ESSC12004), and Exercise and Sport Psychology (ESSC12003). Applied learning is a key feature of the degree, with units such as Applied Exercise and Sport Physiology (ESSC12005), Applied Exercise and Sport Biomechanics (ESSC12008), and Applied Skill Acquisition and Movement (ESSC13006), all of which are supported by residential schools to enhance practical experience.Further into the program, you will study advanced areas including Sport Injury Prevention and Management (ESSC12009), Advanced Exercise Prescription and Delivery (ESSC13008), and Advanced Clinical Exercise Science (ESSC13005).
