Course Curriculum

The Bachelor of Engineering Technology offers additional opportunities and requirements to enhance student learning and professional preparation. A key component of the course is the Engineering Practice Experience (ENEP14004), which requires students to complete 360 hours of Professional Engineering Practice, including at least 240 hours of industry-based experience. This ensures that all graduates meet the professional standards set by Engineers Australia. The work experience is mandatory, and in one of the final terms of study, students must enrol in a zero-credit unit to formally record their experience in an ePortfolio. Graduates from these streams are recognised as engineering technologists and are eligible for Graduate membership with Engineers Australia, which provides professional recognition and enhances career opportunities in the engineering industry.For students studying online, certain units may require attendance at compulsory residential schools, held either at a CQUniversity campus or another designated location. These residential schools are essential for completing practical components that cannot be delivered online, and students are encouraged to review unit details before enrolment to confirm requirements.In addition, the course supports credit transfer for eligible prior study or experience, providing flexibility and recognition of previous learning. Overall, the program balances academic study, practical industry engagement, and professional recognition to prepare graduates for dynamic careers as engineering technologists.
