Discover how each program is uniquely designed to inspire learning

The Master of Finance (Professional) program is structured over five semesters and is designed to provide students with a deep understanding of finance combined with practical, real-world experience. In Semester 1, students begin by immersing themselves in foundational finance and investment concepts while selecting directed electives such as Financial Accounting and Company Reporting, Macroeconomics, Linear Models and Applied Econometrics, Quantitative Methods, or Personal Finance, which is highly recommended to strengthen their quantitative and analytical skills. Semester 2 focuses on investments and portfolio management, the pricing and trading of financial instruments, and the workings of financial markets and institutions, alongside another directed elective, with Entrepreneurial Finance being a recommended option to develop business-focused financial insight. Semester 3 allows students to complete three further directed electives, such as Financial Applications and Analysis or electives not taken in the first semester, further expanding their technical expertise and applied knowledge. In Semester 4, students undertake International Finance, an advanced subject that integrates theoretical frameworks and macroeconomic concepts to equip them with the skills necessary to manage risks associated with global capital raising, alongside completing their final two directed electives to refine their specialization. The final Semester 5 is dedicated to professional practice, where students engage in either a business internship or a 20-week Professional Portfolio, a Work Integrated Learning component that enhances learning, personal development, and professional practice. Through this experiential component, students develop practical skills, industry insights, and a comprehensive portfolio demonstrating their applied knowledge and expertise. Across all semesters, the program balances rigorous academic learning with practical, professional experience, ensuring that graduates are not only highly skilled in finance theory and quantitative methods but also capable of making informed decisions, communicating effectively, and applying ethical and strategic judgment in complex, global financial contexts. By the conclusion of the program, students are equipped to excel in corporate finance, investment banking, asset management, risk management, and other advanced financial careers, with both theoretical and practical competencies to navigate the demands of modern financial markets.
