The Graduate Diploma in Occupation and Health requires students to complete a structured combination of core, alternative, and directed elective subjects, totalling 80 credit points. The 50 credit points of required subjects provide foundational knowledge essential for professional practice in occupational therapy and health-related fields. These include Foundations of Occupational Therapy, Health Conditions and Multidisciplinary Management, Neuroscience for Health Professionals, Enabling Environments: A Systems Approach, and Evidence-Based Practice for Health Professionals. Together, these subjects equip students with an understanding of health systems, common conditions, interdisciplinary care, environmental influences on participation, and the application of research to inform professional practice. In addition, students select 10 credit points from an alternative option to enhance their professional and managerial skills. Options include Educating the Health Workforce, which focuses on developing teaching and workforce development capabilities, and Managing People, which addresses leadership and people management in health and organisational contexts. Finally, students choose 20 credit points from a range of directed electives that allow them to specialise in areas of interest and develop applied occupational therapy skills. Directed electives include Engage: In Occupation, Enable: Occupational Performance, Occupational Therapy Roles and Responsibilities, Occupational Therapy: Independence and Participation, and Health Research Design and Planning. These subjects provide practical and research-based competencies, enabling graduates to support client independence, optimise occupational performance, and contribute to health research and service development. Collectively, the program prepares students for professional practice in rehabilitation, aged care, disability services, and related health settings.
