Course Curriculum

In the first year of the Bachelor of Sport Management program at Bond University, students begin by undertaking core subjects designed to build essential leadership skills. These core units focus on developing critical thinking, effective communication, collaboration, and integrity. Alongside these, students are introduced to key foundational subjects in sport management, which include sport governance, sport communication, sport development, and sports law. These subjects provide a solid grounding in the structure and function of the sports industry, preparing students to understand the legal, organizational, and social dynamics that influence sports at both national and international levels. During this year, students are also encouraged to start thinking seriously about their future career paths. This forward planning allows them to tailor their degree by selecting a minor that aligns with their interests and professional aspirations, replacing general electives with more focused study in a specific area.In the second year, the program advances into more specialized areas of sport management. Students complete remaining business and sport-related subjects, including sport public relations, managing high performance sport, and event management. These subjects are designed to enhance students’ practical understanding and strategic thinking in real-world sport settings. Students also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through a business internship or by participating in an international study tour. These options provide valuable industry exposure and help students build networks that can support their careers after graduation. Alternatively, students may choose to spend a semester abroad through Bond’s International Student Exchange Program, allowing them to broaden their global perspective on sport management. This overview assumes students are enrolled in a full-time study load starting in the January semester, ensuring a structured and comprehensive learning experience over the course of the degree’s early stages.
