The Bachelor of Criminal Justice and Criminology is a comprehensive program comprising 24 subjects (240 credit points), designed to be completed in two years of full-time study, with a typical load of 40 credit points per semester across six semesters. The degree offers flexibility, allowing students to tailor their study plans to their interests and career aspirations through specialisations in criminology, psychology, law, or by selecting general electives from one study area. In the first year, students complete Bond University’s core subjects, which focus on developing critical thinking, collaboration, leadership, and integrity, alongside introductory criminology and legal foundations subjects. These initial subjects provide a contextual understanding of crime, criminal law, and the broader criminal justice system, establishing a strong foundation for further study. In the final year, students engage with advanced topics such as criminal investigations, crime in the media, child protection and youth justice, victimology, crime prevention, cybercrime, and specialised studies in psychology, law, or other electives, allowing them to deepen their expertise in areas aligned with their career goals. To enhance flexibility, students are encouraged to select criminology subjects not included in their chosen specialisation as general electives. Elective options include completing a psychology specialisation along with two general electives, a law specialisation with two general electives, or choosing six general electives, providing opportunities for interdisciplinary learning and skill development. This program structure ensures that graduates gain a comprehensive understanding of crime and criminal justice, combined with specialised knowledge and transferable skills, preparing them for careers in law enforcement, legal services, social services, research, policy development, and other related fields within the justice system.
