In the first year of the Bachelor of Communication (Marketing) program at Bond University, students begin their marketing major immediately by completing three foundational marketing subjects. These are designed to introduce key concepts and principles that will form the basis of further study in the field. In addition to marketing, students also engage in core communication subjects such as Strategic Speaking and Writing, Communication in the Workplace, and Digital Media and Society. These subjects are focused on building strong written and verbal communication skills, understanding communication in professional environments, and analyzing the impact of digital media in society. Alongside these discipline-specific subjects, students undertake three core university subjects that aim to develop critical thinking, collaboration, leadership, and integrity. These core skills are integrated across all areas of study to ensure students are well-equipped for both academic and professional success. Additionally, students begin the Beyond Bond program, a compulsory, activity-based professional development initiative that runs throughout the degree. It encourages practical engagement, career preparation, and the development of transferable skills. In the second year, students delve deeper into their marketing major by completing the remaining three marketing subjects, which build expertise in consumer research, strategic development, marketing program execution, and the identification and analysis of market trends. These areas are critical for understanding and responding to the demands of modern marketing environments. To broaden or tailor their studies, students then have the option to take six general electives from any faculty, allowing for interdisciplinary learning. Alternatively, they can choose to complete a specialist major or minor in communication. A major would involve six additional communication subjects, while a minor would consist of four subjects, supplemented by two general electives. This flexibility allows students to shape their degree to suit individual interests and career goals.
