The Bachelor of Theology is a 144 credit point undergraduate degree consisting of 24 units, with each unit normally worth six credit points. Students complete four units per semester over six semesters in a full-time study load, or the equivalent part-time arrangement. As some units are offered on a rotational basis, guidance from the Course Convenor is strongly recommended to support effective study planning and unit selection. The course structure combines core, discipline, minor, and elective units to provide both depth and flexibility in theological study. Core requirements include two units in biblical languages and one unit in health and wellbeing, which are recommended to be completed early in the program to support later learning. Students then undertake discipline units that form a major, focusing on either Biblical Studies or Theology. This includes five units in Biblical Studies and five units in Theology, with at least one unit at the 300 level in each discipline, along with three additional advanced units in either Biblical Studies or Theology, two of which must be at the 300 level. Biblical Studies units cover areas such as the Old and New Testaments, exegesis, prophecy, biblical literature, and biblical languages, while Theology units explore Christian thought, ethics, philosophy, church history, doctrine, and belief systems within historical and contemporary contexts. In addition, students complete four minor units and four elective units chosen from any undergraduate course, subject to prerequisite requirements, allowing for interdisciplinary learning and personal interest. This balanced structure ensures graduates gain strong theological foundations, advanced disciplinary knowledge, and broader academic skills suitable for further study or diverse professional pathways.
