Course Curriculum

Discover how each program is uniquely designed to inspire learning

The Master of Psychology (Educational and Developmental) follows a structured two-year full-time study plan beginning in Year 1 Semester 1, where students complete four foundational units: Professional Practice in Psychology, Therapeutic Skills, Psychological Assessment and Practicum Skills. These units establish essential professional, diagnostic and intervention competencies needed for later clinical and developmental training. In Semester 2, students progress to Psychopathology and Learning Difficulties: Assessment and Intervention, both requiring earlier units as prerequisites. They also undertake Practicum A, the first major supervised placement, and Evidence Based Practice for Psychologists. Year 2 continues to build advanced expertise, beginning with Applied Educational Psychology, Applied Developmental Psychology, Practicum B and the first thesis unit, Research 1. The final semester includes Advanced Child Psychology, Practicum C and Research 2, a 20-credit thesis component that completes the research sequence. All units are delivered on campus, and progression through the program requires successful completion of prerequisite units at each stage, ensuring a coherent developmental pathway toward registration as a psychologist and eligibility for endorsement in Educational and Developmental Psychology through the registrar program.
