Course Curriculum

Commencing in ACU Term 1, the Master of Leadership and Management in Healthcare follows a structured progression across two years, with students completing a range of specialised units that build advanced competencies in healthcare leadership, organisational management, policy, research and service improvement. In Year 1 Term 1, students undertake HLSC604 Quality and Safety in Health Care and PHIL623 Healthcare Ethics: Principles in Practice, the latter delivered online unscheduled. Term 2 focuses on key organisational and leadership principles through HLSC603 Organisational Culture and Management and HLSC605 Leadership in Health Care. In Term 3, learning continues with HLSC606 Workforce Management and HLSC640 Interpreting Health Research, supporting students in developing the analytical skills required for evidence-informed decision-making. Term 4 expands into systems-level thinking with HLSC607 Policy and Planning in Health Care and HLSC661 Facilitative Leadership, Coaching and Mentoring. Year 2 Term 1 includes HLSC506 Strategic Management in Digital Health Service Delivery, delivered via ACU Online Term 1, alongside HLSC660 Redesign in Health Service Delivery. Term 2 focuses on organisational transformation through HLSC662 Leading Change in Health Services and one elective unit. In Term 3, students commence the 20 cp HLSC617 Independent Project, completed over two consecutive terms, and also complete BUSN602 Money Management. Finally, in Term 4, students continue with HLSC617 Independent Project and complete HLSC679 Global Perspectives on Healthcare, delivered in ACU Online Term 3. All units are offered on campus unless otherwise indicated, with the curriculum designed to progressively develop leadership capability, strategic insight and applied research skills relevant to contemporary healthcare environments.
