Course Curriculum

The course structure is completed across two years of study, beginning in Year 1 Semester 1, where students undertake two specialisation units from their chosen stream, each worth 10 credit points. They also complete one specified unit, which differs depending on their stream: students in the Research Methods stream take EDLE655 Data Information Systems: Using Research and Data for Learning, while students in all other streams take EDRS651 Educational Research Methods. An additional 10-credit-point elective unit completes the semester. In Year 1 Semester 2, students continue to develop expertise within their stream by completing two more specialisation units, each worth 10 credit points, along with two elective units that allow for further personalisation of their learning. In Year 2 Semester 1, students complete two additional elective units worth 10 credit points each, enabling deeper study in areas of interest or alignment with career goals. During this year, they also undertake a capstone component, which must be completed in the final year of the program. Students may choose between the Capstone Applied Project (EDCP650) or the Capstone Research Project in Education (EDCP651). The research project option is only available to those who have completed the Research Methods stream, and the capstone component is weighted at 20 credit points.
