Course Curriculum

ACU’s Graduate Diploma in Public Health is a one-year full-time program designed to provide advanced knowledge and skills to improve population health. The course equips students with a strong understanding of public health principles, research methods, and evidence-based practice. In the first semester, students study the history and principles of public health, biostatistics, determinants of health, and introductory health sciences research, building a solid foundation in both theory and analytical skills. In the second semester, the focus shifts to applied public health, covering health promotion, epidemiology, disease prevention and management, and public health law and policy. These units develop practical skills to design, implement, and evaluate interventions while navigating ethical and legal frameworks. All units are delivered in a multi-mode format, combining online learning with interactive components for flexibility and engagement. Graduates gain the ability to critically assess public health issues, apply evidence to support interventions, and contribute to community, national, and global health initiatives. Successful completion also provides a pathway into the Master of Public Health for further professional development and specialisation. The program emphasizes an ethical, social justice perspective, preparing students to make meaningful contributions to improving health outcomes across diverse populations.
