Course Curriculum

Commencing Semester 1, students in the Diploma in Educational Studies (Tertiary Preparation) will begin with an academic support unit, DPED100, Academic Literacy in Education. It is strongly advised to enrol concurrently in LNTE110 while studying this unit. Students will also complete foundation and general education units. For English, students in Queensland or Victoria who have not met the prerequisite for Initial Teacher Education courses must take EDLA111, Introductory English. Students in New South Wales who have not achieved a HSC Band 5 in English must take EDEN100, Foundations of Literacy. For Mathematics, students in Queensland or Victoria who have not met the prerequisite must take EDMA111, Introductory Mathematics, while students in New South Wales without a HSC Band 4 in Mathematics must take EDMA150, Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching. These units are complemented by a third foundation or general education unit, Unit 3, each worth 10 credit points.
