Course Curriculum

The Biblical Studies and Christian Thought major, commencing in Semester 1, is structured across three years to provide a deep and coherent theological education. In the first year, students complete four foundational 100-level units across their two chosen major streams—Biblical Studies or Christian Thought—alongside one elective each semester. Semester 1 introduces the first two units of Major 1 and the first unit of Major 2, followed by an elective. Semester 2 continues this pattern with the third and fourth units for Major 1, the second 100-level unit for Major 2, and the first Core Curriculum unit. In Year 2, the program builds on this foundation with more advanced theological study. Semester 1 includes the fifth unit of Major 1, and the third and fourth units of Major 2, supported by one elective that allows students to explore additional interests. Semester 2 progresses the major further through Major 1 Unit 6 and Major 2 Units 5 and 6, complemented by another elective. By Year 3, students move into higher-level, integrative learning that connects theological study with practical experience. Semester 1 features Major 1 Unit 7 and Major 2 Unit 7, alongside a community engagement unit in Christian community practice and the second Core Curriculum requirement. The final semester completes the major with Major 1 Unit 8 and Major 2 Unit 8, an Integrated Study unit in theology and philosophy that synthesises learning across the degree, and one final elective that offers flexibility for academic or vocational interests. The structure ensures students develop strong expertise in their chosen major stream, while also gaining broader theological formation, practical engagement experience, and opportunities for interdisciplinary learning, preparing them for future roles in ministry, education, community work or further academic study.
