Course Curriculum

The Bachelor of Business Information Systems (BBIS) is a structured and comprehensive program designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed at the intersection of business and technology. To qualify for the award, students must successfully complete a total of 24 units, comprising 16 core units and 8 electives, amounting to 144 credit points.The core units cover a wide range of topics essential to both business and information systems. Students begin with foundational subjects such as information systems, data management, and programming, which provide the technical and theoretical groundwork for more advanced study. As the program progresses, students explore areas such as IT infrastructure, systems analysis and design, enterprise architecture, cloud computing, and project management. A strong focus is also placed on current issues such as sustainability, ethics, information systems security, and risk management. In the final year, students complete a two-part capstone industry project, allowing them to apply their knowledge to real-world business challenges and gain practical, hands-on experience.In addition to the core subjects, students choose eight electives from a diverse set of business-related units. These include subjects in management, accounting, finance, marketing, business law, human resource management, and entrepreneurship. Electives enable students to tailor their learning to specific career interests, whether in business strategy, financial management, or leadership development.This blend of technical expertise and business understanding ensures graduates are prepared for roles such as business analysts, IT consultants, systems designers, or project managers. The BBIS degree is designed to meet the needs of the modern digital economy by producing graduates who can analyse, design, and implement technology-driven business solutions across a wide range of industries.
