The Bachelor of Information Technology (Mobile App Development) program offers a comprehensive and structured pathway for students to become skilled mobile app developers, equipped with both foundational knowledge and advanced technical expertise. In the first year, students build a strong base by learning essential web development skills, including creating functional websites using HTML, CSS, and image optimization techniques. They also study fundamental programming concepts, database design, and principles of software engineering, with a focus on object-oriented design and the Unified Modeling Language (UML). Applied computation introduces important mathematical and logical concepts relevant to computing, helping students develop problem-solving skills. Additionally, students select an elective to expand their knowledge in a complementary area.In the second year, the curriculum deepens programming abilities through advanced object-oriented programming, including Java and graphical user interface development. Students learn systems analysis and design, gaining skills in requirement gathering and modelling techniques crucial for software development. The user experience and interface design course emphasizes creating interactive, user-friendly applications. Networking fundamentals and enterprise systems broaden their understanding of how apps function within larger IT infrastructures. Students also explore digital project management, preparing them to lead and manage software projects. A highlight of this year is the introduction to Android mobile app development, where students gain practical experience with Android Studio and mobile interface design.The final year focuses on advanced app development skills, including iOS programming, cross-platform app development, and advanced web technologies such as PHP and jQuery Mobile. Students engage in two major studio projects, working individually or in teams to research, design, implement, and present a complete app development project that simulates real industry conditions. The curriculum also includes data-driven app development, where students learn backend programming, database connectivity, and security, and an external project that offers valuable real-world experience by collaborating with a client. This comprehensive program prepares graduates to confidently enter the mobile app development industry with both technical skills and professional experience.
