The Bachelor of Film at AIT is a comprehensive and industry-informed degree designed to equip students with the creative, technical, and professional skills needed to succeed in film and media. In the first year, students build foundational skills in film production through hands-on practice in camera operation, editing, sound, lighting, and green screen techniques. They explore the evolution of film and screen languages, develop visual storytelling and screenwriting skills, and study image design and cinematography to prepare for professional film practice. In the second year, the focus shifts to advanced techniques and broader creative applications. Students learn sound design, motion graphics, 3D asset creation, and VFX, applying these in film contexts using industry-standard software. Film production becomes more collaborative, simulating real-world workflows and production cycles. Cultural theory and media studies are also introduced, encouraging students to think critically about audience, narrative, and the social impact of film. In the final year, the program prepares students to launch into industry. They learn how to build sustainable freelance careers with a focus on legal, financial, and promotional practices, and they explore emerging technologies that will shape the future of creative media. Real-world challenges, professional networking, and future-focused projects help students refine their vision and position themselves confidently for work in studios, agencies, or as independent filmmakers. Throughout the course, students complete multiple film projects to professional standards, supported by an emphasis on critical feedback, reflection, and industry relevance.
