Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Global Studies

The five-year Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Global Studies curriculum combines comprehensive legal education with international and interdisciplinary studies, preparing students for legal practice and globally focused careers. In Year 1, students build a foundation in law through legal research, contract law, Australian public law, and commercial law, alongside global society, sustainability, and core curriculum studies. Year 2 develops knowledge in criminal law, torts, business organisations, and community legal engagement, while students begin exploring global studies electives, minors, and general electives. Students also complete pro bono legal engagement, gaining practical exposure to the legal system. Year 3 introduces statutory interpretation and law electives while students undertake a Global Studies Research Project and complete the required pro bono legal professional experience. A major international component follows in Semester 2, where students complete a global study-abroad program, international internship, or Rome Semester option, providing valuable international academic and professional experience. Year 4 advances legal knowledge through evidence, legal ethics, property, legal theory, constitutional law, civil procedure, and land law, alongside further global studies. Year 5 focuses on administrative and international law, equity and trusts, and several law electives, allowing students to develop specialised interests. Overall, the curriculum develops legal reasoning, research, advocacy, critical thinking, ethical decision-making, intercultural communication, and global awareness. The combination of legal training, international experience, and pro bono engagement equips graduates for diverse careers in legal practice, government, international organisations, policy, diplomacy, business, and advocacy.
